Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to any personal data that you submit to us via
the use of our mobile driving application known as SOMPO Drive ("Application") and the services to be provided through the
Application ("Services").
Access to and use of the Application and Services is conditional upon acceptance of Sompo's Terms of Use accessible from the Application, into which this Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference and which this Privacy Policy is an integral part of. By accessing and/or using the Services, you acknowledge you have read Sompo's Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy, and that you are expressly agreeing to the Terms of Use and expressly consenting to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the Terms of Use and/or do not consent to such collection, use and disclosure of your personal data, please do not access or use the Application and Services.
1.1 We collect and use your personal data to allow us to provide Services, and to customise and improve our Services to make your experience more secure and convenient. We only collect personal data about you that we consider reasonably necessary for achieving these purposes
1.2 If you choose to use our Services, we may require you to provide contact and identity information, NRIC, passport and driving licence, gender, phone number, email address, photograph, insurance policy numbers and related policy details, car number, car make and model, and other personal data such as lifestyle information, vehicle documents and licence, photos of your vehicle and policyholder, and social networking data and other information as indicated on the forms in the Application or provided through the Application. If you have an existing policy with Sompo or its related entity, we may obtain some of this data from your policy details.
1.3 We will maintain a record about you and your use of our Services. We will collect, use and retain the data in your record, and such other data that we may obtain from time to time in connection with your current and past activities on the Application, for as long as the purpose for which the data is collected continues or where otherwise necessary for legal purposes or the purposes of our normal business operations.
1.4 Under some circumstances, we may require certain financial information from you. We use your financial information (including credit card information) only to verify the accuracy of your name, address, and other information, to detect any fraud or other criminal activity, and to bill you for your use of those of our Services which may be chargeable.
1.5 The Services to be provided through the Application rely upon device and/or app-based telematic, motion, GPS and location data. To provide such Services, Sompo, its partners and/or licensors will collect, use, transmit, communicate, process, reproduce, adapt, store and maintain your telematic, motion and location data, including the real-time motion, acceleration, deceleration, braking, speed, and geographic location of your device and other device information, Application diagnostic and settings data, and you hereby agree and consent to Sompo's, its partners' and/or licensors' collection, use, transmission, communication, processing, reproduction, adaptation, storage and maintenance of such data to provide the Services. In addition, by using the Application, you agree and consent to Sompo collecting, using, transmitting, communicating, processing, reproducing, adapting, storing and maintaining information and personal data related to the User Account, and any devices registered thereunder, for purposes of providing such Services to you. Such information and personal data may include, but is not limited to, your name and other personal data in your User Account, mobile number, Application ID, device ID and name, device type and real-time geographic location of your device, and the date and time. You may withdraw this consent at any time by turning off the "Location Services" settings (as applicable) on your device, but if you do so, you will no longer be able to use some or all functionality in the Application and the Services. You hereby accept that Sompo does not guarantee the availability, accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of location data or any other data displayed by the Application.
1.6 We may track certain information based upon your behaviour on the Application. We use this information to do internal research on our users' demographics, interests, and behaviour to better understand, protect and serve our users in general and you in particular. This information may include your IP address and your physical location.
1.7 We may use data collection devices such as "cookies" on certain pages of the Application to promote trust and security, help analyse our web page flow and measure promotional effectiveness. "Cookies" are small files placed on your hard drive that assist us in providing our Services. We may offer features that are only available through the use of a "cookie". We also use cookies to reduce the number of times you need to enter your password. Cookies can also help us provide to you information that is targeted to your interests. You are always free to decline our cookies (if your browser permits you to do so), although in that case you may not be able to use certain features on the Application and you may be required to enter your password more frequently during a session on the Application.
1.8 Where you consent to receiving marketing material from us, we may send you information about products and services which may be of interest to you. You may modify or revoke this consent via the settings page in the Application.
2.1 As a matter of policy, your personal data will not be shared or disclosed to third parties without your consent. However, we reserve the right to disclose your personal data to our related entities, our third party service providers (including any third party service provider which hosts, maintains or manages the Application platform and/or data from the Application; data centre and cloud service providers; business partners who provide or redeem rewards and incentives you may receive via the Application; credit, debit and charge card companies; banks and other entities processing payment instructions given by you through this Application; lawyers; auditors; and any other agents or subcontractors acting on our behalf), and/or government or regulatory authorities, whether within or outside of Singapore, to the extent required in the normal course and scope of our business in the provision of our Services, and where required by applicable law, statute, stock exchange regulation or by-law, regulatory or governmental order or court order.
2.2 You will be given the option to agree and consent to the disclosure and display to all other users of the Application, of your user name, avatar picture, and scores on the Application.
2.3 Our Application may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any information to these websites.
2.4 If you select any social platform sharing option which may be or become available on the Application, your activity on or via our Application will also be made available to the listed social platforms. Please read the privacy policies of those social platforms, because your activities published on those platforms will no longer be governed by this Privacy Policy.
3.1 Your privacy is important to us. We put in place reasonable security arrangements (which shall at least be equivalent to industry standard practices) to protect your privacy and personal data, in such manner and to such extent as we deem reasonably appropriate to prevent unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks. However, there is no such thing as "perfect security" and we do not guarantee in any way, and you should not expect, that your personal data or private communications will always remain private and/or safe from any abuse or misuse by third parties.
3.2 Your personal data to be used by Sompo is stored on Sompo's and/or its data centre providers and cloud service providers’ and other service providers’ servers located in Singapore. We use such procedural and technical safeguards as we deem reasonably necessary to protect your privacy and to protect your personal data against loss, theft and unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification or disposal. Such safeguards include but are not limited to the use of encryption, and firewalls. We will also employ the appropriate security techniques to reasonably protect data against loss, theft, and unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification or disposal by users inside and outside Sompo.
3.3 Sompo protects the personal data it collects in a secure database with important data being encrypted, and the database servers are hosted in a protected data centre. Sompo employees are required, as a condition of their employment, to treat personal data held by Sompo as confidential, and to maintain the confidentiality of that personal data.
3.4 As "perfect security" does not exist, Sompo does not represent or warrant that there will not be, and hereby disclaims any responsibility or liability directly or indirectly arising out of or in connection with, any loss, theft, or unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar actions with regard to any data held or maintained by us.
4.1 If you wish to access, update or otherwise change or remove any personal data that you provide for Sompo’s use, please contact us at: our helpline no 6461 6555 for assistance. However, if you remove any personal data which is necessary for us to provide you with Services, our provision of the Services to you may become impossible, impeded or deficient. Please note that the above right to access, update, change or remove does not apply to any data which is not personal data.
5.1 Sompo reserves the right to amend its prevailing Privacy Policy at any time and will place links to any such amendments on this Application.
6.1 This Privacy Policy is governed by and shall be construed in accordance with Singapore law. By accessing this Application and providing personal data or information requested, you agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
