Who can be covered under Sompo’s Travel Insurance policy?

Sompo’s Travel Insurance policy is only available to You if You:

  • are living in Singapore;
  • hold a valid Singapore identification document such as a Singapore passport, national registration identification card, employment pass, work permit, long-term visit pass or student pass;
  • start and end Your Trip in Singapore;
  • have fully paid Your premium;

Sompo Smart Delay is an exclusive service offered when you successfully purchase a Travel Insurance policy from Sompo. How do I register for Sompo Smart Delay?

You can register for Sompo Smart Delay service here with the registration code(s) provided to you by Sompo via email. Please note that you will be required to provide your scheduled flight details as part of the registration process.

Which flights do I need to register for?

You can choose to register for your departure flight, return flight and any connecting flights, as long as it is an international flight. Sompo Smart Delay does not cover domestic flights at this point in time.

Please note that each registration code will allow you to register for up to 4 flights and you may add up to 3 insured persons for each flight that you register. Hence, the number of flights and insured persons that you may register for would be limited by the number of registration codes that you have received from us.

When will I receive the vouchers to access the lounge?

You must first complete registration for Sompo Smart Delay. If your flight is delayed for at least 60 minutes, you will automatically be sent an email notification of the delay along with your complimentary lounge vouchers. Do remember to mention LoungeKey to the lounge staff when presenting your voucher for entry.

When do I need to register for Sompo Smart Delay?

You can register at any time after receiving the policy and at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight, as indicated on the boarding pass or flight itinerary.

If you do not register at least 2 hours before departure time, you will be considered to have waived the right to receive Sompo Smart Delay service.

If I want to change my Sompo Smart Delay registration information, how can I do it?

After you have successfully registered, you will not be able to amend any details. Please contact Sompo Contact Centre to cancel your registration and re-register.

If you re-register less than 2 hours before scheduled flight departure time, the company will consider that you have waived your right to receive Sompo Smart Delay service.

If I forget to register for Sompo Smart Delay and my trip has already commenced, can I still register for the return flight?

You can still register for your return flight provided that you complete the registration at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight, as indicated on the boarding pass or flight itinerary.

At which airports can the Sompo Smart Delay be used?

Sompo Smart Delay service is available at airports with participating lounges in the LoungeKeyTM network, which includes more than 1,500 lounges in over 500 airports worldwide. You can refer to the list of lounges here.

When will the policy coverage take effect?
  • Cover under section 1 (Trip cancellation) and 2 (Trip postponement) starts:
    • at the time when You book your Trip (For Annual policies only);
    • on the date We issue Your policy; or
    • as shown under the section which applies, whichever is later.
  • Cover under section 8 (Insolvency of travel agency) starts:
    • at the time when You book Your Trip (For Annual policies only); or
    • on the date We issue Your Policy, whichever is later.
  • Cover under section 12 (Personal accident) starts when You leave the place You usually live or work (whichever is later) to start Your Trip, or three hours before the start date of Your Trip, whichever is later.

All other sections will be effective only when you are overseas.

How can I extend my Single Trip policy period?

You may contact your servicing intermediary, our office or call our 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Hotline before midnight of the policy expiry date to furnish your extension period and credit card details for payment of additional premium, provided the trip is within 182 days from the start of your policy and subject to our approval.

What is the maximum trip duration under Travel Insurance for Single Trip and Annual policies?

For Single Trip policies, the maximum trip duration which you can purchase coverage for is 182 days. For Annual policies, each trip should not exceed 90 days.

What is cashless outpatient service?

This is a service made available under both our Single Trip and Annual Travel Insurance exclusively for trips to Japan and can only be activated while you are travelling in Japan. When cashless outpatient service is required, you simply need to call our Assistance Company at (65) 6532 2522 or via online call here and they will inform you if your request is approved and arrange for an outpatient medical appointment at a medical facility within their accredited network. No upfront payment for outpatient treatment costs will be collected at the medical facility for approved requests.

Can I submit a claim for outpatient medical expenses incurred in Japan if I did not use the cashless outpatient service?

Yes, you can still submit a claim under Section 13 (Medical expenses overseas) for outpatient medical expenses incurred. Policy terms and conditions apply.

Is COVID-19 coverage included?

Yes, we offer comprehensive COVID-19 cover under Section 22, which includes coverage for Medical expenses overseas, Trip cancellation, Overseas hospital allowance and more. Please refer to the policy wording for coverage details.

What can I claim for if I am tested positive for COVID-19 before departure?

You can claim under Section 1 (Trip cancellation) or Section 2 (Trip postponement) if you need to cancel or postpone your trip as a result of testing positive for COVID-19 by a medical practitioner or government-approved test provider before departure, subject to policy terms and conditions. In particular, we would like to highlight:

  • Diagnosis for COVID-19 must be within 30 days prior to scheduled departure date from Singapore.
  • We will not pay if the policy was purchased less than 3 days prior to your scheduled departure date from Singapore.
What can I claim for if one of my travel companions is tested positive for COVID-19 before departure?

If your travel companion is tested positive for COVID-19 before departure, you can claim under Section 1 (Trip cancellation) or Section 2 (Trip postponement) if you need to cancel or postpone your trip. Policy terms and conditions apply.

Am I required to be fully vaccinated before departing from Singapore to enjoy all the benefits under my Travel Insurance policy?

We do not require you to be fully vaccinated as long as you still fulfill the requirements of the destination country and are not in breach of any government regulation.

What are the documents required when making a claim?
  • Medical Expense Claim - Submit all original medical evidence, certificates, reports and receipts
